Facebook Connect requires a valid Facebook App ID to work. The App ID replaced the Facebook Application Key on September 12, 2011.

Each App ID is locked to a particular domain name. So if you are using the free sub-domain we gave you when you first built your site, e.g. yoursite.oursite.com, then you won’t need your own Facebook App ID as you'll be using ours.

But if you are using your own domain name and that is set as the preferred address, then our App ID will not work. You will have to get your own App ID which is associated with your own domain. The process is quite straight-forward and we will prefill as much information as we can for you in the application form.
