The easiest way to crop an image is to use a Shape widget, which you'll find on the Insert menu.

With the widget selected, click the Style tab and choose Image fill from the top menu, then click on Browse. The File Manager will open so that you can choose the desired image.

You can drag the image within the shape to set its position, and use the arrow tool to change the angle and level of zoom.
