Multiple Shop Options and Payment Gateways

thelermonthupton

Hi,

Can you tell me whether it will soon be possible for people to select multiple options in the shop. For example: a lot of people will need shops where the customer selects both the shirt size and colour. At present you would have to have a different product for each colour.

Also are there any plans to integrate different payment gateways such as sagepay.

Thanks!

Hi,

We are working on the ability to specify more than one kind of variant, and you should see this in a couple of months time. You can add up to 50 variants, so it is possible to have combinations - for example. Small, medium and large Red, the same in Yellow, and again in Blue. This would only result in nine variants.

There are no current plans to add alternative payment gateways, due to the heavy integration with Paypal, but this may be reviewed in the future.

HTH,

Gary

Hi support

Can you confirm if is it possible to integrate my bank's merchant account as a payment gateway to my ecommerce shop?

Thanks

This is something id like to know as well.

I don't want to spend money on a merchant account from my bank or WorldPay if i can not integrate it into my website. Otherwise i will have to think about hosting my business website somewhere else.

Thanks

Hi,

As per my above reply, I'm afraid it is not currently possible to add any extra payment methods or handlers to the shop. Apologies for the inconvenience.

Hi Gary,

You mentioned in  February that the ability for more shop variants would be available in a couple of months time.  As it is now July, are we any closer?

Cheers, Sara

Hi Sara,

I'm afraid it is not going to be looked into in the immediate future. However, it is not something that we have completely ruled out.

I have over 1,000 options for one individual product, a lot of people need the multiple options to work. I'm gonna switch sites if this doesnt get fixed soon.

it has been a year since Moonfruit claimed that multiple variants would be available in a couple of months. Im no expert but it seems like a pretty easy add-on. If we already have a single variant how difficult is it to add another for the people who write the code?

Since a second variant is not available what options do we have in selling items in different sizes and different colors ?

Hi yahoo37,

Each product can have 50 different variants. But its not possible to have double variants. So the option will be to add all combinations. Such as Medium-black, Large-black, Medium-Red, Large-Red etc.

Sharif

Hi,

We have a situation where we have too many size/colour variations for one product required for our store in order to complete the full list of options with only 50 product options.

May I ask why such a basic shop tool isn't provided? And when are you planning on making it availible?

Hello macronstoreplymouth,

I am sorry to hear you are having problems with our shop feature.  Unfortunately the variations are limited to 50 product options per product as my colleague has already stated.

While we are aware of the need for multiple variants, it is not something we can provide yet. At present our development team are busy working on V6, and we are looking at updating the Shop feature soon.

Kind regards,

Richard

This forum has been going on for a very long time, and I have been looking at it every now and then to see if there has been any progress. I see no changes and I am very dissapointed with Moonfruit. Several of my products have thousands of options and every time that someone makes an order, they have to email me with all the options. This is very frustrating and needs to be fixed ASAP.

Thank you,

Evan

Hello Evan,

I am sorry to hear you feel this way. We have been working on the v6 software update recently and I can advise our development team are aware of this. It is something we will be looking into in the near future.

Many thanks,

Hello lyndoncompany,

The checkout feature is already available on your shop.  Users will still pay through PayPal but with the checkout option they can pay using there own debit or credit card directly to your Pay Pal account.

I hope this helps.

Thanks,

Richard

This second option just forces you set up a paypal account which not everyone wants to do?

Am I missing an option to just add pay by credit/debit card alone and not have anything to do with paypal?

Hi,

The second options asks users to set up a Paypal account when using a credit/debit card, but also gives them the option to continue without creating an account.

Hi jondog007,

I have answered you on Facebook directly, and to your wall posts. However will echo that reply here. I'm afraid it is not possible to the EPDQ payment gateway from Barclays, it is not compatible with our software. I have raised a ticket for you regarding the domain release.

Please note, we do not consider spamming on forum or Facebook page acceptable behaviour, I appreciate you may be frustrated but please ensure that your correspondence with us is always of a professional manner.

Regards,

Juli

Dear Moonfruit,

I am a young enterprise company and so we are only allowed to have people pay us through a payment gateway called 'cashflows'.  I don't know if it is possible to integrate this into the shop page of my website.

Thanks,

Hetty.

Any ideas if and when this may be sorted ? I also use Cashflows for my Mail order telephone transactions as is far cheaper than paypal`s virtual terminal. It would be far more cost effective to link it to my Moonfruit site too

Thanks

Steve.

Hi Catarina,

We have development teams currently working on additional tools for the Moonfruit shop, such as the oft-requested discount/coupon codes, multi-variant product options, personalisation and additional shipping options.

However, there is not currently a rollout date for this software so I would not want to give you any unrealistic timelines - apologies.

Steven

Ive used Moonfruit for over 5 years now and still have several sites live - all of which can NOT take payment! As a company, we don't use PayPal, we use SagePay as its cheaper (and they can't shut you down fro no reason!). Its 2014 not 1999 - why on earth is moonfruit still just allowing Paypal!? Surely you must be loosing 1000's of customers by limiting the payment provider option to just 1!

I realise this ia a long running hot topic but would like to add my 50 pence...  I'm operating in the Czech Republic and we take payment cash on delivery throught the post office delivery service. Currently we can only offer people an 'email us if you're interested' button then through a lengthy process of back and forwarding emails get the customers address for delivery, send it via the post office for to whom the customer pays the fee. This money is then transfered at no cost into our account. In the real world this works well, costs us nothing but a visit to the post ofice but... please can you assist me in adding an option in the shop to allow for this system. I'm trying to place a link button that would take customers to a separate page outside of the actual shop but I can't find a way to drop the button into the shop so that it sits nicely next to the Paypal and Credit Card buttons.  Yours increasingly frustratedly, Richard.

Apologies if I offend anyone with my following comments. It's not my intention, but there is a reason I am successful in what I do. With regard to the Shop structure, shop options, coupon/discount options and so on:- Use the service/company best suited to your needs. That's all!

What I mean is; I love Moonfruit for multi-site hosting - they are inexpensive, innovative and dependable. I used to use Weebly until they made ridiculous changes to their pricing. I occasionally use Wix as some of my customers prefer them. I regularly use Squarespace as they are just so damn slick and exceptional for designers/photographers etc. But I only use whatever best suits my needs - I know it's frustrating because you are paying for a service - but Moonfruit aren't fraudulently taking your money. They tell you what they can't do, so that you can make a viable choice how you proceed.

I personally have 2 options I use with my personal and business sites. 1). I build with whoever suits me from the word go as that way I don't lose money by not being able to sell or have private members etc.. even if it's more expensive initially. 2). There are many many providers of Stripe and Sagepay (to name but a few) that give you a cheap or free account that also includes a single page 'storefront'... It doesn't take too long to appropriately make it match your site and find one of several ways to link it to your own site. I used to just have it as a direct page link from the menu - now I have a page titled 'Shop' (or similar) and it takes my customers to a splash page that advises them they are going to an external service for payment and services. It's actually my entire shop that is external, but that's not proven to be a problem so far. I check my analytics and my bounce rate is now tiny.

None of this is hard. Yes it is definitely some extra work, sometimes some extra money. But I'd rather part with an extra £5/month to secure the customers I have that get discount codes and additional payment options.

Hi folks,
we spoke to World Pay direct last week and after a long conversation on the phone it turns out that the only thing holding moonfruit back is moonfruit themselves.

World Pay are more than happy to get their payment system linked to the moonfruit shopping cart.

So... moonfruit, what's the plan?

Guys, moonfruit constantly stalls on things like this, its not in there interest to change -I have noticed from experience. I do not see them allowing any additional payment gateways in the near or distant future. I suggest people try wordpress plugins, that allow third party providers - it has worked for me. regards
