RESOLVED: Backspace key not working in Safari 5.1

UPDATE 8TH MARCH: This has been resolved with a software patch.

Safari 5.1 (which is preinstalled with Mac OS X Lion) has a problem that prevents the Backspace key from working text boxes on our sites. This is actually a general problem with the way Safari 5.1 deals with Flash, rather than the bug in our software, so I'm afraid we cannot do much to fix this at the moment.

However, the problem can be worked around in either of these ways:

1. By placing the cursor in front of the unwanted text, and pressing the Delete key.

2. By placing the cursor in front of the unwanted text, and pressing FN+Backspace - this method is more useful for users who don't have a full-sized keyboard.

It looks like Adobe are already working on a fix for this, which they are hoping to release next week. I will update this as and when we get more news.

HTH,

Gary
