How to change template design for a paid site?

squeakydee
asked this on June 06, 2011 20:30

Can anyone tell me how to change my template design for my paid moonfruit site please? I was trying to design my own site and had got the basics done but then saw one of the new templates released and I'm desperate to use it. I can't see where to go in the dashboard to 'change template'?!

Thanks!

Hi,

Unfortunately, it isn't possible to switch to a new template on a live site, because of the way they are initially set up.

However, you can change every part of a given template through the Design menu, so it should be possible to give your site the same look.

I am a total novice to building a website. back in march when I bought a paid site, I was not aware that I had specifically choosen the particular template as such, and that that would be set in stone. as I was busy at the time, I believed from the moonfruit website at the time that I could go back to having a choice of looking at different templates which would suit my needs. the moonfruit site I paid for was a standard one which included 5 site? does this not mean I not use different templates?

Hi, as Gary highlighted above, you can change many elements of the template including back ground, menu, font, site size etc. But you can't change the template on the fly due to many things being interlinked like number and type pages preset with each template.

So you have a few choices. Change the elements you wish to modify, delete the site and start again, or simply build a new site with the template you want. You have space for four more websites in your account.

Hi,

You can delete your site by clicking on Admin -> Delete site. You will then be taken back to the Dashboard, from which you can choose a new template.

Hi Gary I am having a problem I have a domain from moonfruit which is : www.techcentre.org.uk

I have deleted my old website on moonfruit which was linked with that domain. I have now designed a new website on moonfruit and linked the domain with that new build but I still seem to get a error when going on the domain after 72 hours which is as follows:

Page cannot be found!

Please check the website address (URL) and try again.

When I access it directly from google chrome it seems to go through and some of my clients seem to tell me my other old design still seems to be on there. I am getting a little worried as to what can be up

Hi,

The URL seems to be working fine from here. If you're still seeing problems, it could be that your ISP has yet to pick up on the new DNS records.

Gary

I'm canceling my order. Very deceiving that you can't change the template. SMH.

Hi,

We are sorry you think this is deceptive, however we do try to make it very clear that all the templates do allow you to change most elements. In fact, it is possible to change the elements of an existing template to replicate one of the templates from the currently choices. You can also delete the site and start again if you would like to change to a different template via a clean start. Please see below the link to our FAQ which highlights your choices with regards templates. If you would still like to close your account please send in a support ticket and we will assist.

I changed my template by deleting my site and starting again, i also copy and pasted relevant text etc into microsoft word so i could keep and paste into new one to save retyping.
